    Antique photograph by J.Delton of Sardanapale
    measures 8 1/4 x 6 1/4  inches. Photographer's stamp and penciled notations on reverse.
    Sardanapale was a French Thoroughbred and sire who was considered one of France's best trained horses. He was sired by Prestige from Gemma. His Damsire was Florizel. Sardanapale had a number of Major wins, was in the money 15 times in 16 races, winning 11 times. He was the leading sire in France in 1927.

    raph came with a number of horse racing items that belonged to Walter S. Vosburgh, an original member of The Jockey Club, turf historian ( author of American Racing, 1866-1921 etc. ), official handicapper for various racing associations, including New York race tracks from 1894-1934 and for whom the Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park is named.
