The photo has the stamp of Geo. D. Stewart, Photographer, 2501 0 Street, Sacramento, Cal. The photo was likely taken at Rancho Del Paso, the horse farm purchased in 1859 by James B.A. Haggin, where he bred thoroughbred horses until about 1905. Darebin was the Damsire of American Thoroughbred racehorse Africander who was foaled 1900 in California.
    Measures 8 x 12 inches including board; image measures approx. 5 x 8 inches.
Photograph came with a number of horse racing items that belonged to Walter S. Vosburgh, an original member of The Jockey Club, turf historian ( author of American Racing, 1866-1921 etc. ), official handicapper for various racing associations, including New York race tracks from 1894-1934 and for whom the Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park are named.
